LEGENDARY LIGHT RECORDS SHINING BRIGHTER THAN EVER WITH HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED FALL RELEASES BY BISHOP PAUL S. MORTON AND SWV’S COKO LATTER FEATURES CAMEOS BY FAITH EVANS AND FANTASIA BARRINO

Back in the 1970s, Light Records was one of the premier gospel labels with a legendary roster boasting the likes of Andrae Crouch, Walter & Tramaine Hawkins and the Winans. After a period of dormancy in the 1990s, the label re-emerged in 2002 and for a while, operated alongside sister label, Artemis Gospel. Now, the two labels have merged resources and are operating under the Light Records brand name.

Over the last few years, the revamped label has kept pace with the major label conglomerates and produced hits such as Bishop Paul S. Morton’s “Let it Rain” (spent 100 weeks on Billboard gospel chart), Shirley Caesar’s Grammy-nominated Tonex duet “I Know the Truth” (Her first Light Records project and her highest debut in 22 years) and RiZen’s electrifying breakthrough, “View That City” which spent a year on gospel music playlists.

This fall, Light will usher in the autumn season with two of the most anticipated gospel projects of the year. On October 11th, Cheryl “Coko” Clemons will release her debut gospel project, “Grateful.” The lead vocalist for R&B trio SWV , the group scored Top Ten pop hits such as “Right Here,” “Weak” and “I’m So Into You” in the 1990s. The group is planning a reunion project next year. In the interim, fans can sink their teeth into Coko’s project which features producers such as Donald Larwence and Warren Campbell. The project which bridges the gap between gospel and urban will also boast cameos by Fantasia Barrino, Lil Mo and Faith Evans.

On November 14th, Bishop Paul S. Morton will release Still Standing, the follow-up to his best-selling “Seasons Change” duet with Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. The project will be recorded live on Friday, August 25th at Greater St. Stephen’s Full Gospel’s church in the Uptown neighborhood of New Orleans. Pastor Marvin Winans and Tramaine Hawkins will be special guest vocalists.

The label is also working outstanding new projects such as Bishop Joseph W. Walker III Presents Judah Generation, a 200 voice choir hailing from Nashville’s Mt. Zion Baptist Church; female quartet, Zie’l’s Genesis project; worship leader Judith Christie McAllister’s In His Presence Live!

Light Records is a division of the privately held, New York-based company, Sheridan Square Entertainment.
